CLINTON — Police have released the name of the man killed Monday night after a shooting in Clinton

Deven Gallegos, a 21-year-old North Ogden resident, was found dead in a car Monday night, Feb. 12, behind the Pizza Hut at 300 S. State St. in Clearfield, according to Clinton Police Lt. Shawn Stoker.

Stoker said police were first dispatched at 9:32 p.m. Monday to a call of shots fired near 1132 N. 1000 West in Clinton. Several shots were fired and multiple vehicles reportedly were seen leaving the area without their headlights on, Stoker said.

Shortly afterward, police in Clearfield were notified about a gunshot victim on South State Street, Stoker said.

The victim was accompanied by one witness, Stoker said. Stoker would not say if the witness was injured or what the witness told police.

As of Tuesday afternoon, police have used warrants to search two vehicles and a residence in connection to Gallegos’ death, Stoker said.

Stoker said police are “on a good track” to locate and arrest suspects, but as of Tuesday afternoon police do not have anyone in custody.

Stoker said police believe that some of the parties involved with the shooting were familiar with the victim.

Police are asking for the public’s help in locating anyone with information regarding the shooting.
